(Ontario) Methadone Prescription Labels

Based on information entered in the Rx Detail Methadone window, the ingestion date and total dosage print on the prescription's vial copy and file copy. For refills, the file copy also indicates the number of milligrams of the patient's last Methadone dose.

Methadone Vial Copy

The ingestion date and the total dose in milligrams print on the vial copy for Methadone prescriptions. This applies to both retail labels (Half, Thermal) and non-retail labels (Daily, Monthly, Manrex).

Ingest Date

  • The ingestion date selected in the Methadone Ingestion Date calendar in Rx Detail. This is the date the patient is expected to ingest the Methadone.

Tot. Dose

  • The total dose of the methadone prescription in milligrams. This is taken from the Total Dose (MG) field in the Methadone window in Rx Detail.

Methadone File Copy

The Methadone ingestion date and total dose values print on the file copy for Methadone prescriptions. When the prescription is a refill, the file copy also indicates the amount of methadone that was dispensed in the last dose. This applies to retail labels (Half) and Daily Labels.

Ingest Date

  • The ingestion date selected in the Methadone Ingestion Date calendar in Rx Detail. This is the date the patient is expected to ingest the Methadone.

Tot. Dose

  • The total dose of Methadone in milligrams, and the total number of millilitres of Methadone stock solution that was dispensed in the prescription. Both values are taken from the Methadone window in Rx Detail; the number of milligrams is taken from the Total Dose (MG) field and the number of millilitres is taken from the Total Dose (ML) field.

LD

  • Last Dose. This only prints for refills, and indicates the number of milligrams of Methadone that was dispensed the last time the patient had Methadone prescriptions filled. This is taken from the Total Dose (MG) field in the Rx Detail Methadone window for the last set of Methadone prescriptions.
  • For example, a new Methadone prescription for 100mg was filled with 2 carries on Nov 1. This created prescriptions for Nov 1, Nov 2 and Nov 3 - all of which had a 100mg dose. The prescription is refilled on Nov 4 for 75.5mg with 2 more carries. This created prescriptions for Nov 4, Nov 5 and Nov 6 - all of which had a 75.5mg dose and a Last Dose of 100mg. The last dose is 100mg because that is what was provided on the last set of carries.
